When I wrote the last post, we were hoping to find a place. Sometimes the search is over quickly which is what happened for us. We found an incredibly huge 2 bedroom flat that has a new kitchen, new split bath, all new appliances with a washer and dryer, a fireplace that actually works and a yard. That's pretty much everything on our wish list. We didn't have to double our rent since prices have come down thankfully, but it is considerably larger than our current living space. It also has a formal dining room that can be converted to a bedroom if needed for guests. We plan on using it for music and art.
It's also located 5 blocks from GG Park, and only 2 blocks from all the restaurants and shops of 9th & Irving. Our commute to work will be longer, but the train or bus are steps a way or we'll ride our bikes since it's probably only a 10 minute ride. It's still easily walkable as well.
I'm really excited to decorate Dexter's room. It's not often a room gets a clean slate to decorate from. I have too many things to consider. What purpose will his room serve besides sleeping? How will it grow and evolve for his needs? How do I keep it from being too baby? It's the designer in me screaming for some boundaries to reign me in. I've got the color scheme of warm gray and vivid orange figured out. I ordered a dresser for him since he'll need a changing table in his room. I'm actually more excited about his room than I am any other room in the place.
