I've been sick for a week. I haven't been sick like this for quite a while. I've had to work from home nearly every day because I've been coughing so hard. Today, I came home and forced myself to take a nap instead of working and it was just what I needed. I feel so much better.
Tomorrow we have our first MusicTogether class. Amazingly, three of us even synched up so that we are going to the same class. No matter what, I'm taking Dex to the class. Even if I have to work, I'm taking him to the class, so I can visit with my friends. I've been really bad about staying in touch with people. The last few months have been filled with ups and downs, so it's been difficult to even feel up to reaching out.
Dexter is starting to say sentences more often. He's filling in some smaller words. My favorite is when I tell him "I love you" he says "I love you too". He told me last night "Red pajamas, I like the foots." It's really odd to know that he can understand nearly everything we say. He can say just about anything now too. Sometimes, he'll miss a syllable, but he's pretty quick to correct it if I say it slower, syllable by syllable.
Here's a funny story to share. Dexter's been watching TV occasionally at night and he'll be playing, totally not paying attention until a GEICO commercial comes on. For whatever reason, that commercial resonates with Dexter. He always repeats "GEICO!" emphatically after the announcer at the end of the commercial when the logo appears. Apparently, this week he was out with our nanny when an airplane was flying overhead. She asked him where the airplane was and when he saw it he said "GEICO!" The plane was pulling an advertisement for GEICO. I guess that's also on his list for words he can read. I'd say that's a successful campaign—if the target market is toddlers!
