Trying Times

Dexter has been a bit of a handful lately. After 2 weeks of sleeping peacefully at night, he decided to scream last night…for 2 hours. It was enough to make me re-think motherhood. Dad tried to take over only to have the baby "spitting cobra" try and blind him. As soon as Mr. Cobra had enough, I took the critter and he instantly quieted down just to add insult to injury. He had to sleep beside me, that was the only way he would sleep. It sucked. I don't think I've ever been so frustrated and pissed off.

Yesterday he bit me. He bit my hand so hard that I had a mark that lasted most of the day. The reason why he bit me? Because I was closing the dishwasher door. I was trying to make sure I didn't pinch his fingers and BITE! He's been doing that a lot lately, but not to the point where it actually left a mark and out of him being mad at me. Wow he's vicious!

We purchased his "real" birthday present last weekend. We got him a toybox. Of course it was about 3 times as expensive as I thought was reasonable. But handmade and painted in San Francisco with kid-friendly paint from a locally owned/operated boutique across the street warrants those kinds of prices. It's beautiful and exactly the kind of thing that could be handed down to his kids and their kids. Unfortunately, we won't actually have it in our anxious hands until mid September because we have to have it painted in a lovely shade of black.
