Dexter has been doing great for his initial "going to bed for the night". He's been going to sleep without a pacifier quietly and calmly more often than not. That does not seem to be the case for any other time he wakes up at night or during nap time. I'm giving him the pacifier for naps about half the time. He's been sleeping in the bed with me every night too. I put up a bedrail since he's rolling over a lot. He sleeps on his side and sometimes rolls over onto his stomach and wakes himself up. Changing positions seems to be the primary reason he wakes up now instead of hunger. He's finally getting consistent with going to bed around 8-8:30, first feeding between 11-12 pm for a long 15 minutes, wakes up around 2 am and I put him back to sleep, and second feeding around 5 am for another long 15 minutes. He almost always wakes up for the day around 7 am.
Lately, he's been very clingy to me and cries if anyone else is holding him for too long when I'm around. It's heartwarming that he wants me, but at the same time it's downright annoying to have to drag the exersaucer over by the toilet and keep the door open while I use the restroom, just so he can still see me. That's just overboard. I'm planning on moving my computer back to the office in the next week or so, finally, because of his separation anxiety. It's getting really hard to work at home because if I pop my head out for a minute and Dexter sees me, then he starts a fussing fit that just makes looking after him a much harder job for the nanny. I just want to say hello to my baby boy, but I don't want to make him unhappy.
I took some traditional diaper photos. It seems that 6 months is a really cute age for it. He has a little baby pudge, but not as much as some babies. He moves around so much that he couldn't be anything but a skinny baby. I hope that stays with him! Mr. Cobra and I joke that the skinny people get plump babies, and because we're plump; we get a skinny baby. How ironic is that?
