The good news: Our son is a-ok and very active as little boys usually are.
The cute news: We felt a toe poking out a couple nights ago - felt just like a pencil eraser!
The bad news: Glucose monitoring for the next few days.
The follow-up antenatal appointment went well. Only a couple minor dips in the heart rate, but was well within the normal range. The baby was snoring away at first, so he got the noisemaker again to wake him up. He was so startled that he kicked me pretty good in the ribs when she did it. The nurse was doing her best to protect my ribcage with her hand, but he's got the advantage being inside.
His head is at least 4 inches further down than when I first started the antenatal appointments, so he's getting ready to be expelled into the big wide world. It's starting to get downright uncomfortable these days and I'm soo tired. I slept a good 8 hours, but took a 2 hour nap after the appointment because I was just too sleepy to get anything done.
After the antenatal, I met with a nutritionist to go over how to monitor my blood sugar levels. I have to prick my finger for blood an hour after a meal 3 times a day until next Monday and then fax in the results to see whether or not I need to continue. I'm probably borderline diabetic because I'm within normal range, but on the high side. I went back down on my medicine, so hopefully that will help. Pregnancy modifies how the body handles glucose already, so adding another contributor, prednisone, is making things worse. My hands are starting to hurt again, but I only have a few more weeks to deal it.
