Museum & Zoo

Dexter went to the zoo with the nanny this week. She got some video of him running around the petting zoo screaming at the sheep and goats and saying "baa". It's pretty funny and I'll post it soon. Luckily he didn't pick up any poo! He wouldn't pet any of the animals though.

We went to the Academy of Sciences yesterday, but had to leave early because Dex couldn't settle down in his stroller for a nap. We made it through about half of it. We saw the aquarium, the African Hall complete with penguins. All the fish and the penguins seemed pretty friendly which I found unusual. The penguins were coming up to the glass to look. It gave a lot of the kids a really close up view which was awesome. Dexter had a penguin just inches from his face. The Planetarium wasn't open yet unfortunately, the Rainforest was closed until just before we left, so we didn't get to see it either. The albino alligator was beautiful… for an alligator. We also didn't get to see the living roof. They were still working on a lot of exhibits and not all the bugs and animals were in place yet. The architecture really steals the spotlight though. The structure itself is incredible, airy, and just fun to look at. From what we saw, the collection isn't as great as I'd hoped. I still like the Denver Science and Nature Museum a bit better (so far), but want to go back very soon to see the other things we'd missed. Perhaps that will change my mind. It's a must see for sure though.
