Co-sleeping is da Bomb!

I didn't take Dexter to his 9 month check-up. It seemed unnecessary considering he's healthy and there weren't any vaccinations to be had. I am curious about how tall he is and how much he weighs. My guess is that he weighs 20 or so pounds and he's about 30" tall. I measured his height with a tape measure over the weekend. I'm not sure if that's 100% accurate, but seems about right.

We just bought a co-sleeper. What is that? Well it's like a crib that is level with a regular bed. You can lower one side so that baby can co-sleep, be safe, have room and dad can FINALLY move back into bed with us. Dad has had enough of the couch. It's time to sleep like a family.

Dexter just sleeps better beside me. Since he isn't eating at night, and he only wakes up once to be put in bed with me, then the co-sleeper seems to be the best choice. Actually, I almost regret buying the crib. It will be handy for naps still and the initial "down for the night" sleep, but I'm not sure when Dexter will actually sleep in it all night again. It's one of those "must-have" items that, when it comes down to practicality, co-sleeping is just easier. I never have to have him "cry it out" if he's sleeping beside me because he just goes to sleep. Next time, I probably won't use a crib at all. (What's wrong with me - already thinking about #2!?)

That said, he has been a little monster to sleep with the past few days. Tooth #8 has NOT surfaced yet. Number 7 shot through the gum and is nearly as tall as the middle two on the bottom already. Number eight is stubborn. It didn't come within the few days I predicted and has yet to poke through the gum. I always seem to jinx myself when I try and predict anything on the blog. Since he's teething, he's been tossing and turning so much that it wakes me up.

A couple nights ago he woke me up at 2am rolling over every minute or so. He wasn't fully awake, but the movement kept waking me up. He wouldn't stop rolling to his left; and then his right; and then his back; and then his stomach. As he'd roll, he'd move up closer and closer to the headboard until he finally boinks it with his head. At that point, I drag him down a couple feet and it all starts over again.

I finally lost my patience and decided to put him in the crib. I have some MAJOR patience because I looked at the clock and it had been an hour and a half of this before I finally lost it. Once I put him in the crib, that's when he finally woke up, stood up in his crib and screamed bloody murder. I decided to let him scream for a bit because I had to use the restroom.

He proceeded to wake Mike up. Mike was like "wtf! are you letting him scream like that for". I didn't know what else to do because holding him, rocking him and laying down to sleep were not working. After about 15 minutes of screaming, I desperately gave him Tylenol, and just sat on the bed with him in my arms. He finally calmed down and we all drifted off to sleep again by 4am.

That was not fun. To top that, he has a built-in alarm that even on nights like this, the latest he'll sleep is 7:30am. UGH! I took a morning nap with him too. The next night he tried to do a repeat, but I gave him Tylenol right away and he was out in 20 minutes.
