Rolling Over and Over

Dexter finally is rolling over both ways. He's been so close to rolling back to belly for a long time, but he was always just content to stay on his side. Now he's rolling over both ways all the time. He has a massive spread of quilts stacked 4 high so he doesn't bonk his head on the hardwood floor, but he barely stays in that 3 x 5 area anymore. I just ordered a huge area rug that will cover most of the floor in our living room. He's getting around well by putting his butt in the air and sliding on his face or by rolling to and fro.

He's fascinated by the hardwood floors. He's always dragging himself to the edge of the quilts and grabbing the blanket and throwing it up and down. Then he bangs the hardwood and then glides his hand over it, feeling it's smoothness. He's most intrigued by the one thing I'm trying to keep him from. He'll have to learn the hard way why I'm keeping him off of it. It seems like, if I look away for 2 seconds, he's managed to get himself entirely on the hardwood floor. I don't think he'll want to slide on his face on that or roll over. That could be bad.

He's sleeping on his side more and more. He's still up a lot at night. I don't know why and I've stopped pondering it or trying to fix it. I will drive myself insane trying to expect him to sleep like an adult when he's just a cute little booger baby. Perhaps he's just learning to change positions while sleeping and developing a preference. I know that when he sleeps by me he sleeps on his side facing me. When he wakes up he looks like a little zombie pawing at me with both his hands out, his arms fully outstretched, grabbing my hair, my arm, whatever is within reach. Funny and yet annoying when he's doing this at 5am.

I have a great story to tell soon. It's so random, but that's how life is. Let's just say that Dexter has a look-a-like - better yet, a stunt double.
