Dexter had his first play date at his friend Henry's house. Henry was still snoozing from his morning nap when we got there, but he woke up soon afterward. He was so cute because he just was amazed at me, a stranger, in his house. It took him a little bit to start smiling at me, but he warmed up quick. Then he was all about watching Dexter. Dexter was in a kind of quiet mood when I first got there, but he warmed up a bit after a while too. They both shook rattles and sat and looked at each other. Henry decided to touch Dexter to make sure he was real. It was pretty funny. They were trying to grab each other's toys and Dex eventually found the edge of the blanket like he always does. We sat outside for a bit and Dexter banged his hands on the table. He loves doing that.
So the boys did their thing while the moms talked. It was awesome to talk to another mom for more than just a few minutes. She's going through the same experiences I am right now, so it's nice to know I'm not alone in some of the issues I have with Dexter. It's also nice to know that some of the recent changes Dexter has made, Henry has done the same thing. Yay - I know it's not ME :)
I haven't met so many new people in such a short time period for years. Having a baby creates a common bond with all moms. We smile each other in passing, even if we don't know each other. It's an intriguing experience to have something in common with all these women. I'm not a very outgoing person, so this is an interesting way for me to HAVE to talk to new people.
Henry's mom gave me a link to the best site ever - Kneebouncers.com. It's the best if you are 3 or younger…
