Big Dreams

What's new this week? I recently suspected that he started dreaming and that has upset his sleep lately. That was confirmed a couple nights ago when he woke me up giggling then started crying because he'd woken himself up! There have been random phrases thrown out a lot recently like "BALL!" the night after we had went to the park with the soccer ball and one night he kept saying "cool". I've started sleeping with earplugs again. I really wish we had a 2 bedroom.

Dexter has started saying more and more phrases. Sometimes he's doing full sentences, but he mumbles through them, so I can't tell if it's just wishful thinking. He is fairly easy to communicate with though. I've started asking about things he's done and sometimes he'll repeat a word over and over because that's what he associates with that experience. He started a toddler gym class last week that his nanny takes him to. I asked him if he had fun and he kept saying "JUMP!" He had gotten to jump on a trampoline. It sounds like he really enjoyed it. He needs some indoor play since it gets very rainy here over the next couple months. We also signed up for a music class starting in April. We went to a demo class and I was really skeptical that the class would provide anything outside what we already give him at home. He really liked it though and was right in the middle of everything,

He's definitely passed through a growth spurt. I've heard about picky eaters, but Dexter has always scarfed whatever was put in front of him. Sure he didn't like some things, but has never been like how he was over the last week. Yesterday, I think all he ate was applesauce, cheese, half a PBJ, a cookie, and some macaroni and cheese. He was in a foul mood as well. Today he ate a good breakfast of cereal and has been in a great mood minus a meltdown after I woke him up in the car. It seems like they go hand and hand - picky eating and a bad mood. I've been trying to give him choices of what he wants to eat. There are only 2 things he ever will say without even being offered - "waffulls" and "peessa". Go figure!

In other news, Cobra Creative has received more recognition for the 2milechallenge.com website I was creative director/art director on. It is a finalist in the Activism category for the 2009 SXSW Interactive Festival in Austin, TX. It's awesome to have worked on a site that has gotten some major recognition lately. It is also won a How Design Award and the interactive annual will be hitting newsstands in March/April. I hope it will help garner some more work along those lines. It's fun to build sites that bridge the gap between marketing and application. The 2MC site is a very good example of something fun and informational at the same time.
