Throwing
Dexter started throwing balls last week. I think he's eager to play with Squee, even though Squee still sees him more as an annoyance than someone to play with. It was kinda funny to watch them both grab at Squee's purple ball. Neither of them can get a really good grip on it. Dexter kept raising it to throw while Squee kept chomping on it to take it away. Dexter would get upset when Squee succeeded in getting the ball away from him. Then Dexter would crawl over to Squee and take it away from him and it would start all over again.
Dexter also finally started walking a lot. He can cross the room now, though crawling is still faster. He has pretty good balance and hasn't had any bad falls. His diaper provides enough cushion. The really scary thing he's started to do lately is crawl onto the bed by himself. It was nice to let him play in the bedroom alone for a couple minutes while I got ready in the morning. I can't do that anymore. He crawls onto the bed the first opportunity he gets. Then it's up on the bed, down onto the floor, up onto the bed, down onto the floor. He likes to fall onto his stomach on top of the bedding that's all piled up. It looks like a little Dexter body slam.
He's fallen twice. Once he was just trying to sit down, but he was too close to the edge. Mike and I both were right there and I was even on the way to make sure he didn't fall. He landed on his back, but luckily he was ok. The second time was last week and that was while he was crawling off the edge. He decided to try it sideways and discovered that he landed on all fours instead of two feet. He barely made a sound that time. He keeps me on my toes and my heart in my throat watching him try new things. I do my best to try not to interfere too much because he has to learn and sometimes it's the hard way. I just have to try and make sure he doesn't hurt himself.
