First Year Molars

More teeth are on their way. Dexter is fussy, clingy and having a hard time sleeping. He did an entire 360 rotation in his crib last night tossing and turning. I tried to go to bed early, but that was useless because his constant rustling, rolling over into the side of the crib, and the occasional cry kept me awake until he finally really awoke around 1 am. I tried putting him back to sleep for about half an hour before I caved and put him in the bed with me. It worked like a charm (along with another dose of Tylenol) and he didn't make a peep until 7am.

Today, he looked like he was imitating Squee as he crawled around all day with a teething ring in his mouth. He seriously looked like a little dog. It was too funny! I haven't seen him chew on everything within reach like this since his upper teeth came in. He even started chewing on dad's shoes while he was still wearing them. I hope these new teeth come in fast. It seems to be really painful for him. He's been running a fever as well. I joke that instead of a birthday cake, he should get a big steak to eat because he'll have enough teeth to chew it. We'll put a candle in the middle of it and call it a day.

Speaking of birthdays, our first, first birthday party is Sunday. I hope Dex is feeling up to it and naptime doesn't interfere. I have been unable to go to the parents group much because I've been working on Fridays lately. I'm wondering if I should bring a simple gift. I don't know them THAT well. I've been brainstorming ideas, but can't seem to find anything that I'm wowed by. My creativity has been zapped by work.

We've been so busy at work. Busy is good, but I'm verging on exhaustion. It's hard for me to work full-time and Mr. Cobra to be putting in 50 hour weeks (or more). I have a full-time job at home too. I get an hour to play with Dexter after I get home and then it's fixing dinner, feeding Dex, eating, bath time, pajamas, diaper change, bottle, bedtime. Then I clean up the kitchen and that leaves Mr Cobra and I about an hour of quiet time before going to bed. Mornings are similar, baby wakes up - I wake up. Then I give him his bottle, change him and put him in his day clothes. I fix breakfast, eat breakfast, entertain Dexter for about another hour before he takes a nap. This is time that I clean, blog, post pics and videos, surf the 'net and/or take a shower. Most days he wakes up before the nanny comes, so we have a little more time to play. There's some crossover time that I talk to the nanny and let Dexter get settled, then it's off to work where I feel like I'm barely keeping my head above water for 8 hours because there is so much going on. I'm not complaining, busy is good! We just hired 2 people, we're so busy. I just would like to be able to focus more on what I'm doing rather than being pulled 10 different ways all day long. It will get better in a couple weeks. Vacation is just around the corner, so that's keeping my chin up.
