Rashes, Bruises, Throwing Down and the Clap

Dexter has attitude. He's suddenly decided to throw his food onto the floor. I know… all babies do this, but he throws with such gusto. We've discovered a food he doesn't like - broccoli. He cries when I put it in his mouth. He vehemently threw most of it off the high chair's tray, much to the delight of Squee. Whenever he doesn't like what he's eating, it lands on the floor bit by bit.

Squee has found a new post under the high chair because he gets so much to eat. That works great, but he had to find a safe place to hang out because Dexter also likes to toss his sippy cup off onto the floor. He hit Squee with it once, so Squee no longer stays on that side for long when he sees the sippy cup dangling over the edge.

He also nearly made his dad cry because he head-butted him on the cheekbone right on the small, sensitive part directly under the outer corner of his eye. Mr. Cobra thought for a bit that Dexter's hard head may have broken his cheekbone. They both have bruises from it. Dexter has a tiny one in the middle of his forehead and Mr. Cobra has a bruise under his eye about the size of a dime. Baby FIGHT!!

Now that Dexter is 100% on formula, he's had diaper rash after diaper rash. He has a rash on his sides as well. He's so picky though. Mix pickiness with sensitivity and I feel like I'm never going to find the right formula. The first one he didn't like. The second one he liked, but it made him vomit. The third one he didn't like. The fourth one is giving him the rashes. The fifth he didn't like. The sixth he didn't like. He only likes the one that's giving him diaper rash. I'm determined to get him off of it by mixing #4 with #5 and gradually increasing the amount until it's all #5. I've gotten him to half #4 and half #5. We'll see if that works. I also got "dry" diapers that absorb more to see if that helps any. He's taken lots of diaperless naps and his diet has been monitored closely, so I'm 100% positive all the problems started with the #4 formula.

Today Dexter clapped. He clapped along to a new Death Cab for Cutie song. He sat and did his dance and clapped. He'd been on the verge of clapping all weekend, so I'm glad he had good enough sense to wait and officially do it along with a good band's song.

He also got his first balloon today while we were getting groceries. He always stares at the big ones. They freak him out a bit, I think. While we at the checkout, I spotted some small foil ones on a plastic stick that were the perfect size for Dex. I made the mistake of letting Dexter hold the plastic stick. Not only could I not get it back from him, he was waving it back and forth so much that I couldn't even look at him because it was hitting me in the face so rapidly. He was squealing and making quite the scene. A guy next to us joked that Dexter shouldn't beat up his mom like that. Dexter stopped for about 2 seconds before starting up again. It was hilarious.
