We arrived back home yesterday evening after the wonderful stay in Santa Maria Valley. The guys played football and with some RC helicopters. There was 7 bottles of wine drank amongst 4 people, with the major culprits drinking 5 bottles amongst the 2 of them.
We discovered some new favorites and toured 2 wineries. We also had 2 tastings in 2 hours. After trying about 10-12 different wines, I had a total "bad mom" moment after discovering I had drank a little too much. I haven't drank much more than sips here and there for the last couple years because of being pregnant and then breastfeeding. My recent mission to wean Dexter meant I could drink as much as I wanted since he wasn't going to nurse for at least 6-7 hours. I wasn't drunk, but I didn't feel comfortable carrying Dexter. I let him crawl around instead until I felt 100% steady, which wasn't long after I fed him his lunch.
We all had a great time and it was a little sad to leave. We decided to take off all of yesterday as well, considering that it was a pretty long drive, and at best we'd have 4 hours of work in by the end of the day. It took Mr. Cobra and I over 6 hours to get home. We stopped to let Dexter play and stretch our legs. Unfortunately, Dexter ended up screaming for 30-45 minutes because he'd had enough of the car ride. We were very close to home and stuck in rush hour traffic with a screaming baby. That's a great cherry on top of a relaxing weekend.
Now, we are busy, busy, busy. All hands on deck for the next couple months!
