Squee Rules!

Squee is the best dog EVER. He has the uncanny ability to induce spoiling in every possible way. Since Dex can now ride in the stroller without the carseat, it leaves plenty of space below to hold a 6lb chihuahua. It was a lot of fun to walk around and have Squee just hanging out. He got to chill and I didn't have to stop every 5 seconds to let him mark whatever, sign, tree or blade of grass he decided to claim as his own. A few times he barked, which sparked the most confused looks from people. At first people looked At Dex like there was going to be a dog there instead of a baby. Then they'd look at me like I was barking. Inevitably, Squee would continue his tirade and they'd see his tiny head sticking out the side of the stroller and then they'd laugh.

Squee is a riot at home too. Dexter got a toy for Christmas from his grandparents. It has 4 buttons on it that light up in different colors and play tones that sound a bit like a phone. I was playing with Dex the other day with it and I hit the buttons. Squee immediately got upset and started barking. I didn't think it was the toy because he ran for the door. I kept hitting the buttons and then he came running to me once he realized that the offending sound was somewhere by me. I kept hitting the buttons to show him that it wasn't doing anything and he could stop barking. Well instead of stopping barking, he started howling. It was the funniest thing. There is one Red Hot Chili Peppers song that always induces a howl from him that we happened upon by accident. Mike can sometimes get him to howl by hitting a high note on his guitar. Now the baby's toy is making him howl. I'm hoping he'll get used to it before Dex is old enough to figure out that if he hits the purple button 5 times - Squee howls.

So Dexter is eating solids twice a day most days. I'm trying new foods in the morning and having Meghan (the sitter) feed him cereal in the afternoons. He's doing great. I even gave him a bit of mango sticky rice last night which he really liked. He's starting to get fussy if he sees us eating and he doesn't get any. He's had bananas which he liked okay. Then he tried pears which he tolerated, but I think it didn't agree with him. He was super fussy and had a touch of diarrhea following. It could also be from teething or the fact that I have been eating more dairy lately. It's hard to tell, so I'll try pears again in a couple weeks and see if it happens again. His favorite food so far is a big surprise - sweet potatoes. He ate an entire jar in 2 days. It's the only jar he's finished so far. He's definitely taking after his father since that's one of Mr. Cobra's favorites.
