Dexter's teething must be calming down. He didn't need Tylenol at all and he slept 4.5 hours before waking up to eat and then another 4 hours. It's amazing how much better I feel after getting that many hours of sleep in a row. Dex seems to be happy again. YAY! I love it when he's happy. He coos and gurgles, laughs and squeals whenever I play with him. He smiles at anyone who smiles at him now. He chews on his hands a lot because of his teeth, but it's so darn cute. I wonder when we'll see a whole tooth. Right now it's just a sharp point on his fang. I think he has one coming through on the other side in the back too. I see the bumps of teeth making the gums pale for 6 teeth. It's no wonder he's upset!
He's been sitting in his Bumbo seat which has a high back to help support him. He seems to really like sitting in it for short periods of about 10-15 minutes. I usually sit him in it when I cook dinner. He watches me bounce around the kitchen.
The Bumbo seat is also the first recalled toy we've had. I understand why, but people are just plain idiotic sometimes. The reason it was recalled is because people were sitting the seats on elevated surfaces like tables and coffee tables. Well babies can straighten themselves and arch their back up and over the back of the seat and they fall backwards because of their giant head. Dex did this, but he was on the floor and I was right there to catch him. Apparently, some people weren't attentive enough and didn't catch their babies before they went over backward. Obviously, if they were up a couple feet in the air, then that's bad news, but HELLO, use some common sense people! Perhaps it's modern day Darwinism, or maybe I'm just pessimistic enough to envision the worst case scenario. Whatever it may be, sometimes toy recalls are just due to gross negligence on the part of the parent and has nothing to do with the toy at all. Take some responsibility!
