The baby got his eviction notice today. He has until August 4th to vacate the premises before being forcefully removed - seriously. Next Saturday, at 8 am I will be induced if he doesn't come before then. I've been deemed high risk due to my rheumatoid arthritis and now gestational diabetes, so the doctors do not want me to go beyond my due date. The ultrasound today put his weight at 7 lbs 11 oz., which is totally average. His head is 34 cm or 13 inches in circumference. I always pay the most attention to the size of the head because that matters more coming out than how much his aerodynamic little butt weighs.
In some ways it's nice to know when the last possible day will be. It will fit perfectly with our planned company holiday, so Mr. Cobra can be there without work worries for a couple weeks. However, if I'm induced, it's not the natural birth I wanted. I'm okay with that because my health wasn't so perfect going in. I knew that a medical birth has always been a necessity for me. I'd never be a candidate for an intervention-free home birth. I'm just bummed about pitocin which can cause more painful contractions. That in turn, raises the likelihood of pain medications and a whole slew of interventions that I want to avoid. As long as the baby and I are healthy, then I will do whatever is necessary. In the meantime, bring on the castor-oil, preggo pizza, sex and herbs. Actually, that sounds more like a guys' night out than a way to induce labor.
