We technically didn't need a new stroller. The one we have still works just fine. It's just that Dex weighs about 20lbs and the stroller weighs about 20lbs. Add in the wiggle-worm factor + stairs and it's kind of scary to go out on walks now. That's my justification, and we'll be going on vacation soon. We're flying again, and the smaller the better.
Speaking of vacation, we decided to not buy Dex his own seat on the plane this time. The flight is only about 2.5 hours long, so we figure we can keep him lap happy for that period of time. Luggin' around a carseat on a plane along with Dexter will be impossible this time around. He was almost unmanageable to carry down the narrow airplane aisle in his car seat at 4.5 months, when he was a mere 12lbs. Double that weight and there's no way I'm gonna TRY to carry him in a carseat. He'll have to have a new carseat by then anyway, and it will be bigger and even more unwieldy. As the strollers get lighter and easier, the carseats get bigger. I'm sure this trip will be an interesting journey. I don't expect it to go nearly as smoothly as last time.
