The Center of Attention

Mr. Cobra's two sisters visited us over the weekend. They just left yesterday. We took them to Haight Street, Chinatown, North Beach, Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Bridge, Muir Woods, Stinson Beach and Petaluma. We drove down Lombard Street and did a daytrip up scenic Highway 1 for as long as everyone could stand getting carsick. It was fun and Dexter LOVED his aunties. He couldn't get enough of them. He did great with all the traveling and walking around. The weather was perfect, so they got to see the best of San Francisco. They were only here for 4 days, so despite our efforts to not go nuts and wear ourselves out, we still did. There's just too much to see and do here.

I tried to make sure Dex got some crawl time whenever the opportunity arose. He got his first bloody nose because of it though. He decided to do a faceplant on concrete. There was a quilt in-between him and the sidewalk, but he still had a little blood come out of his nose. I was shopping for shoes at the time and didn't know what had happened. When I came outside, he was calm and I didn't know anything was wrong. As soon as I got close, then Dexter started getting upset. He wanted to let me know he got hurt and reached out for me as soon as I was close enough to him. It was so sweet. I nursed him and he was ok after that. Little booger knows how to get to me. It's hard to see him get hurt, but he hasn't bashed his face into the ground since then.

He's definitely hit a milestone that has enabled him to hit some others quickly. He's crawling across the floor from one end of the rug to the other regularly. He just needs a goal. There for an afternoon it was Mr. Cobra's guitar. Every time we put him on the floor he was crawling to the guitar and touching it. We had to put it in another room because he was so focused on it. He can now go from sit to crawl to sit. Changing from crawl to sit sometimes takes a bit, but he seems to be getting it. He's also getting stronger and pulling himself up to stand. He still only really does it on me still, but he has started reaching on the couch. I'm sure it's just a matter of time. The last thing he's been doing is that he's talking, babbling, jabbering ALL the time. He tells the longest incoherent stories. It's so very cute.

I finally moved my computer to the office. I'll miss hearing Dexter play all the time, but I don't want him to cry every time he catches a glimpse of me. It's hard on him for me to work at home. He doesn't understand why I can't pick him up or play with him. I also need to feel like I"m part of the office again. Instant messaging, email and phone calls can only go so far. I'm really proud of our new office too, so it's great to finally get to work there. There are 5 of us now. We never want to be more than 10, so the desks are already half-filled. We have another person coming in next month that's a fantastic developer and will be working with us part-time. This is exciting. It's taken us almost 3 years to get here and we did it without any loans or investment money. The projects are getting bigger and better. I hope this year continues to be as great as it has been thus far.
