After Mike's sister's left, we enjoyed a visit from our friend and doula, Jess. She hadn't seen Dexter since he was about 2 months old, and he slept the entire afternoon she was here. This time, she stayed a few days and got to babysit the little critter. He must've remembered her or something because he saved the sweetest little baby coos for her. He's never reacted to anyone else in quite the same way. Maybe she just smells like babies now that she's studying to be a midwife. I dunno, but it was awfully cute! She got to see him pull himself up on the couch for the very first time which was a neat milestone to witness. She also got to see him wave by-bye.
We're searching for another nanny. It was the very first time I've ever had to fire someone. She took good care of Dexter, but she was just late too many times. It was really cutting into my time at work, so I have to find someone else. It's a bit scary now because I'm at the office. He needs constant watching because he's pulling himself up to stand every chance he gets. He's also going to be starting finger foods soon and I'm fearful of him choking. Luckily, until I can find the right person, Henry's grandma is watching Dexter. He gets to play with Henry all day! They are too cute.
We had brunch with Henry's parents last Saturday. It's a lot of fun to sit around and talk babies and watch the little guys. Dexter is a madman who sees something and wants it no matter what, while Henry is more careful and steady. Just watching the two of them stand next to each other you can see how Henry stands steady while Dexter sways and jumps up and down. I think Dexter is going to be accident prone like his infamously head hitting dad. I'm hoping it's too soon to tell…
