The Babysitter

I tried out a babysitter at home while I worked yesterday. It was awesome. I had some solid time to work and still visit my little baby boy whenever I wanted to. I'm going to try this out for 4 hours a day, a couple days a week until January. I want to get back to working at least 30 hours a week then, but I'm still planning on having a sitter/nanny watch him wherever I am. It will be great to have someone at the office to watch him while Mr. Cobra and I work. We're in a great situation to make that happen because we're our own bosses. One on one childcare is expensive, but totally worth it to have someone to dote on him as much as I do. I'm not against daycare, but I feel like he's too young still. Perhaps after he's a year old, I'll feel like he's old enough.

Dexter loved the babysitter too! He hardly cried and she played and talked to him very similar to me. That was a little weird, I guess people just have a certain way of talking to babies that's innate. She even got him to take a nap, which I'd been trying to do for a few hours - I even took him out in the stroller - with no luck. She doesn't have kids, but she's worked at a daycare for a year. She's certified in CPR & First Aid. That's a serious sitter and worth every penny! Perhaps I'm just ecstatic because it's a new situation, but I love the break from endless rattles and baby talk. I can still hear him playing, still feed him, still be with him when I get the urge to check in, and yet be productive for my business too. I never realized I was such a career woman.
