Mendocino Babymoon

We just got back from our last trip together before the baby arrives. I haven't been getting around quite as well, so we took it easy and opted for a quiet, relaxing weekend at a bed and breakfast in romantic, coastside Mendocino.

We drove slowly up on Friday and arrived just in time for dinner at the Moose Cafe. We had a window seat overlooking their flower-filled garden. We watched a hummingbird visit the flowers throughout our wonderful dinner. We topped off the night with a bubble bath fight in the jetted 2-person tub that had me giggling for 20 minutes straight.

On Saturday, we took a 4 hour train ride through dense redwood forest. The train was pulled by an old steam engine on what on a train line created for the timber industry. It was great to be surrounded by nature and be able to sit and relax. A perfect option for a woman 8 months pregnant. We visted the quaint shops in Ft. Bragg and then headed back to Mendocino to eat at a gourmet vegetarian restaurant called The Ravens. The food was excellent, but not so far from what we normally eat in San Francisco other than in it's hefty price tag.

We walked around Mendocino on Sunday morning and visited a couple really great shops. One had musical instruments from all over the world. It was an unusual chorus of drums, xylophones, guitars, and shakers that everyone was playing at the same time. Our baby loved the noise and squirmed the entire time we were there. We then went to a very nice baby clothing store called Bebe Lapin. They carried some of my favorite brands I'd seen online for almost half the price. We, of course, stocked up on a couple of cute 6-9 months outfits, the first book we've bought to read to our son, and a cute baby book for us to put his pictures and journal.

Overall, the trip was awesome. Mr Cobra, unfortunately, didn't feel well and was coughing a lot, especially at night. We didn't get very good sleep either night, but he was a trooper and stuck it out even though he didn't always feel up to par. Allergies suck!
